Neal Family Reunion
Harmonica great Raful Neal is patriarch to Baton Rouge's first family of the blues.

Neal's gifted offspring include Kenny Neal, singer/guitarist of international recognition; Raful Jr., guitarist for blues-legend Bobby "Blue" Bland; Jackie, a singer who recently released her CD debut; the bass-playing Noel, formerly with James Cotton, now with Larry McCray; keyboard player Frederick and bassist Darnell, both in their brother Kenny's band and drummers Larry and Graylon.

Of course, all that music began with Raful, a pillar of the Baton Rouge blues scene since the mid-'50s. In his 40-plus years of music making, Neal performed with guitar great Buddy Guy, the late Slim Harpo, recorded two albums and many singles.
