National

Reso-Phonic Guitar

presents the

"Queen of the Show"

National Reso-Phonic Guitars, based in San Luis Obispo, California has announced its participation as a major sponsor of the 13th Annual King Biscuit Blues Festival, held in Helena, Arkansas, October 8-11, 1998.

The third largest blues festival in the country, "the Biscuit" attracts over 120,000 blues fans from all around the world. Located 65 miles south of Memphis on the Mississippi Delta, the Festival continues to be free of charge and brings in some of the top blues artists from throughout the United States for performances on its Blues, Acoustic, Gospel and Heritage Stages.

National Reso-Phonic Guitars' sponsorship lends itself well to the Biscuit. National guitars have been steeped in the Delta Blues since the 1920's, '30's and '40's when the likes of Son House, Blind Boy Fuller and Bukka White played them. Today, the new National Reso-Phonic Guitar company still produces what are widely considered the finest acoustic resonator guitars in the world.

"Queen of the Show"

National is creating a custom engraved guitar artistically themed around the

King Biscuit Time radio show that began in 1941 starring Sonny Boy Williamson.

This handmade nickel-plated piece of art will take over six months to produce and will be the "Queen of the Show" at the Festival this year. The guitar will be auctioned off  with all proceeds being donated to The Music Maker Relief Foundation and BluesAID. The Music Maker Relief Foundation is a non-Profit Organization dedicated to helping forgotten blues and folk musicians rooted in Southern musical traditions who are in need. BluesAID is a non-Profit Organization based in Helena, Arkansas dedicated to our aging blues artists through medical assistance targeted to individual needs. BluesAID efforts have extended into defraying memorial costs to artists’ families.

National will also have an extensive display of new and vintage Nationals and an historical exhibit highlighting the company's connection to the Delta and other genres of the blues.
