Notice to All Artists

Announcing the 17th Annual Poster
Contestfor the 2002 King Biscuit Blues Festival

Planning for the 17th Annual Festival, Organizers of the King Biscuit Blues Festival is requesting interested artists to submit artwork to be judged and the winning entry to be used as 2002 poster illustration publicizing the festival.  One thousand posters will be printed and the winner will sign 150 as a limited edition.  The winning artwork may also be used on T-shirts, post cards, or other festival souvenirs.  All sales will go to Organizers.   The winner’s original artwork remains the property of Organizers.

Poster Judging:
Three finalists will be selected from all entries.  
A final winner will be selected from the top three finalist. 
 
Awards:

Winning artist will receive $1,000 and V.I.P. status during the 2002 festival:

  • Two (2) backstage access passes
  • Two (2) invitations to the V.I.P. kick-off party
  • Free arts and crafts booth in festival area

Two finalists will receive $50 each and invitations to the private poster unveiling party.

 
Dates:
Entry:  Entry deadline: January 25, 2002
   
Judging: Contest finalists will be announced March 1, 2002 by letter.
   
Display: All entries will be displayed during the 2002 festival.
   
Art Pick-Up: All artwork  must be picked up at King Biscuit Blues Festival office after the 2002 festival.

Private Unveiling & Signing:

March 19, 2002  at First National Bank of Phillips County.
   
Regulations: Theme should represent and be identifiable with blues music, musicians, and/or historical cultural elements.  No scrollwork, lettering or numbers are acceptable on the face of the entry unless specifically relevant to the statement of the artwork. 
   
Medium: Any that conforms to theme and is rendered in full color.
   
Size:  Vertical drawing measuring 18”x24”, any smaller or larger shall NOT be considered.
   
Packaging: 

Artwork should be matted and covered by a transparent film such as “shrink-wrap” or “acetate.”  No Glass.  Artwork should be matted for easy removal, no permanent matting or dry mounting.  Overall thickness of artwork shall not exceed ½ inch.  Mat should be 3” at top and sides, 5” at bottom.

   

Submittal Procedures:  

Entries may be shipped or hand delivered, but must be accompanied by a completed entry form attached to the back of the artwork and a signed agreement.  If shipped, shipping box should be heavy cardboard or comparable material suitable for shipping.
   
Entry Fee:  Entry fee is $15.00 per entry.  You may enter as many times as you wish, but each entry must have the entry form and signed agreement.  Entry fee is to be paid at the same time artwork is submitted.  Entry fee will not be refunded if you do not adhere to rules and your submission is not accepted.
